Tackling the mudder of all challenges
MOST people choose to tackle one fear at a time, but Ferntree Gully resident Justin Beinke is hoping to conquer them all during a 20-kilometre obstacle course.
Terrified of heights, darkness and holding his breath underwater, Beinke has entered the first Australian Tough Mudder event on Phillip Island on March 31-April 1.
Tough Mudder is an obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test "all round strength, stamina, mental grit and camaraderie".
Men and women willingly put themselves through gruelling challenges such as running through fire, dodging live electric wire, running up a half-pipe and jumping into ice-cold water.
Participants must pay for the questionable privilege and sign a death waiver - which Beinke said he wasn't aware of.
